🕸️With Great Listings Comes Great Responsibility: Meet Kodey Cannon
In the world of real estate, much like the Marvel universe, heroes don’t always wear capes — sometimes they carry lockboxes, drive a beater with no AC, and wield measuring tapes instead of web-shooters. Kodey may not have spider-sense, but he does have an uncanny ability to sniff out a good deal, swing into action when clients need them most, and stick the landing on even the trickiest transactions. We sat down with him to talk about the highs, lows, and hidden talents behind the scenes of the housing hustle.
👋 Who Is Kodey, Really?
Q: Where did you grow up, and how did you end up here?
“I grew up in Empire, Alabama, right on the Sipsey River—small town, big trees, and even bigger front porches. It was the kind of place where everyone knew your name and your business. That sense of community stuck with me, and it’s a big part of why I love real estate now. Helping people find not just a house, but a neighborhood that feels like home? That’s what brought me here. Well, that and a lot of friendly neighborhood ambition.”
Q: Did you always want to be a real estate agent?
“Truthfully? No. Growing up, I wanted to be about a million different things—astronaut, game designer, superheroes (still not off the table). But I was always captivated by video games and comics. The way they build entire worlds from the ground up. That love for design, space, and creating experiences eventually led me to real estate. Turns out, helping people find their world in the form of a home is just as exciting as a good game or being a hero in a Comic book.”
🛋️ When They’re Not Selling Homes
Q: What does a dream Sunday look like for you?
“My dream Sunday starts with church—some time to reflect, reset, and be grateful. After that, it’s all about relaxing, maybe with some comfort food and a good video game session. A perfect mix of peace, play, and a lot of prayer.”
Q: What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
“Most people are surprised to find out I’m a big basketball fan and a huge Spider-Man nerd. If I’m not talking about real estate, there’s a good chance I’m watching a game or debating which Spidey is the best.”
Q: What motivates you every day?
“ My family and my faith in God are what keep me going every single day. They remind me why I do what I do and inspire me to give my best, no matter the challenges.”
🏠 Now Let’s Get Down to Business (Sort of)
Q: Why real estate? What drew you in?
“Real estate drew me in because it’s about more than just buying and selling houses—it’s about helping people find their place to build memories and dreams. Plus, as Uncle Ben said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Being trusted to guide someone through one of the biggest decisions of their life? That responsibility keeps me motivated and passionate every day.”
Q: What’s the best part of the job — and what’s the worst?
“Best part of my job? The people—hands down. I meet everyone from first-time buyers who treat picking a house like choosing a Hogwarts house, to seasoned investors who could negotiate a price drop on a hot dog. Every day is something new. I get to help turn “just browsing” into “just bought,” and honestly, watching someone fall in love with their future home? It is the best feeling in the world! The worst part? Paperwork. Endless, soul-sucking paperwork. I swear, if trees had a revenge plan, it would be called Real Estate Disclosures. I’ve signed so many forms, I half expect a notary to show up at my dentist appointment just to keep things official.”
💡 Helpful (and Slightly Funny) Advice
Q: What’s your top tip for buyers or sellers?
“Buyers–Don’t fall in love with the staging. That throw pillow isn’t coming with the house, and that fresh-baked cookie smell is a trap. Focus on the bones of the home, not the decorative bowl of lemons. Unless you really love lemons. Sellers–Declutter like your in-laws are visiting and they judge silently. Buyers want to picture their future—not your collection of cat figurines or 37 throw blankets. If you wouldn’t see it in a model home, hide it like it’s your Halloween candy stash.”
Q: What’s your top tip for buyers or sellers?
“You’ll work weekends, answer texts at midnight, and become emotionally invested in people you met three days ago who still aren’t sure if they want a ranch or a colonial. You’ll learn to survive on coffee, charm, and Wi-Fi in your car. But—if you love people, don’t mind wearing five hats at once (therapist, negotiator, photographer, cheerleader, locksmith), and get a weird thrill out of seeing inside other people’s homes? You might just fall in love with it.”
Q: How do you stay sharp in this ever-changing market?
“Just like Spider-Man keeps his spidey senses tingling, I stay sharp by staying constantly alert. That means soaking up market trends, networking like I’m swinging through the city, and adapting faster than a villain changes plans. Whether it’s new listings, interest rates, or buyer moods, I’m always ready to pivot—because in real estate, you’ve gotta be quick on your feet and have that “with great power comes great responsibility” mindset.”

🕸️ Final Thoughts from Kodey
“Being a real estate agent isn’t exactly like being Spider-Man — I don't scale buildings (unless there’s a rooftop listing), and my spider-sense mostly tingles when a deal’s about to fall through. But like any good neighborhood hero, I show up when people need help, solve problems under pressure, and always try to do the right thing — even when it’s tough. Whether you’re buying your first home or selling your fifth, I’m here to swing into action and make the process a little less scary — and maybe even fun.”
